Viking needle box with bar chain link.
Here you can buy a detailed replica of a Viking needle box with bar chain link based on a find from the isle of Gotland / Sweden.
The Viking needle box measures 6 x 2 cm with an inner diameter of 0.7 cm.
The bar chain is 5 cm long.
It can be attached to a brooch or chain using the small S-hook.
The Viking needle box is available in both high-quality bronze and genuine silver-plated.
There is also a model in 925 sterling silver to choose from.
The Viking needle box is open on both sides. Some wool inside the needle box provided the necessary support for the needles so that they did not slip out and were still easy to grip.
In the Viking Age, it was common for women to carry a small needle box with them. Viking needle boxes could be made of bone or antler, but they were often made of bronze, as many finds from Sweden, e.g. from Birka and Gotland, testify
As a rule, Viking needle boxes were worn on a ribbon or chain hanging from one of the two bowl fibulae. Needle boxes are often found as part of the costume among the grave goods from Viking Age women's graves.

Living History is making history come to life, and there are groups around the country that weekend in and weekend out (and some days in between) will set up a living history encampment, although at the moment my pages are focused generally upon the Migration, Saxon/Viking age, many of the items are transferable to other periods such as Roman and Crusade and earlier/later.
We hope this section can provide you with items to enhance your display, and if you're not a re-enactor, then also to enhance your home.
Please note that some wooden items may no longer be in stock throughout event season however please contact me to replicate anything you may see and like.
